It's been a while since my last update so I decided to step back in time to February 2015. It was actually 2-21-15 to be exact. The Shallotte Junior Women's Club was hosting a fundraiser dinner and they needed sound and music for the event. Since I've helped the out with the cornhole tournaments in the past I was onboard.
After talking in detail about the event with Stacy, I found out it was a murder mystery dinner theater show, I got excited. When discussing their needs and what I could provide them with I got even more so excited about it being a sound and lighting production. I was going back to my high school theater classes for this one!
Equipment wise I had to scramble to find 8 wireless lapel mics which I found through a Nady wireless system with 8 separate modules built into a 1 space rack system. It wasn't the top of the line but it had to work. For the sound reinforcement I broke out my Cravin 16 channel mixer with the front of house rig, 2 Behringer 315 speakers for front, 2 Mackie 15 Thumps for side fills. Lighting wise I used 2 ADJ WiFlys as par lights for the performers table, 3 WiFlys as uplights, 4 Chauvet par56 for uplights, 8 ADJ event pods for the tables, and a stock party time Gobo.
The theme for the murder mustery was Marti Gras so the colors were mostly purple. Music was mostly from the Dukes of Dixieland band, Fat Tuesday, and even a few Jimmy Buffett songs made the playlist.
I had a blast doing this and by the sound of it from the sold out crowd, it was a hit! I hope for another very soon. I figure a 70's disco style would be fun! Saturday Night Fever, Murder at the Disco...
